Using Hypnosis To Quit Smoking
You have seen and heard the warnings. You know that smoking is killing you. Maybe you have tried to give up smoking before, but the gum tastes bad and irrespective of how hard you tried you can't pretend the inhaler is a smoke. Maybe you've even attempted support and prescription medications but with no lasting success. What else is there for you to try? You need to definitely consider hypnosis to help quit smoking.

Why you must quit smoking

First things first - a quick reminder about why you must stop smoking earlier than later.

Smoking does many things to your lungs. If you have seen the before and after photos, you know how smoking takes a healthy pink lung and turns it into a black unhealthy one. Smoking can cause cancer, emphysema and can increase your odds of coronary and stroke. What causes this? The chemicals in cigarettes are outstanding and a lot of them are poisonous. There is also benzene, a chemical in petrol, cadmium, found in batteries and oil paint, and hydrogen cyanide that cause headaches, giddiness and revulsion.

There are basically 4000 chemicals and of these 43 are cancer causing. One ingredient is acetone, an ingredient in nail polish remover. Arsenic. That is right, arsenic, the ingredient that is used to kill rats! Arsenic is what gives your lips a burn and your mouth a very bad taste.

What occurs when You quit

This is what happens to your lungs after you stop smoking. Inside 20 mins of quitting your heart rate starts to drop. Twelve hours off the smokes brings your carbon monoxide levels to ordinary. Between 2 weeks and three months smoke free you start to lower your likelihood of coronaries, and your lung function improves.

Within one to 9 months, you may find that your coughing level is dropped and your lung capacity increases. One year, and you have already cut your possibility of a cardiac arrest heart disease to to half what it was when you were smoking. 15 years and you currently have the same likelihood of a non smoker of having a coronary heart attack.

Using Hypnosis To quit smoking

Hypnosis is not what the cartoons and films portray. An in a clincal setting it's nothing like the theatrics you see on the stage. You do not sit in front of a creepy man as he sways a dangly object in front of your face. The goal of hypnosis is to suppress the conscious side of the brain, which is the "thinking" part of the brain with which you function almost all of the day. The purpose is to let the subconscious become available for tweaking by you and the hypnotist. Frequently the hypnotist will work to coach your subconscious to equate smoking with something upsetting, like revulsion. While support only works on the conscious part of the brain, hypnosis works on the deep rooted subconscious levels of automatic thought.

Many hypnotherapists will help you quit smoking with simply a single session of treatment and there are a number of programs you can use in the ease of your own home if you're not comfortable visiting a hypnotherapist.
